Fail Faster
As one of my favorite lifting apps likes to say "failure is part of the game." Most people know that you can't succeed all the time, but they still also want to shy away from failure. Today we're going to talk about not only not shying away from failing, but doing it faster in order to succeed.
Not Being Afraid
Firstly, you need to truly accept that you will fail. It's absolutely 100% guaranteed. Seek to prevent it, of course. Plan, and have contingencies on top of contingencies. Set yourself up for success in every possible way. But also plan for and expect your failures. When you do this, you become significantly less likely to be afraid of it, to flinch, to avoid it even when there is an opportunity cost.
Get used to failing. Learn how it feels. Get accustomed to avoiding the emotional pitfalls of it. Train yourself to treat it purely as a lesson, so you can stop fearing it and avoiding it at the cost of not even making the attempt.
When you're not afraid of failing, you'll stop procrastinating and avoiding things. You'll succeed more often simply by virtue of trying more often. All of this will combine to eliminate your fear of failing, and you will feel more and more comfortable taking on greater challenges.
Why Fail Faster?
Because we want to get it out of the way. We want to encounter it as little as possible, but we want to meet it head on when we do. You don't do that by avoiding every risk and taking no chances.
You want to fail faster because when you do, you get it over with, learn from it, and get back on your feet faster. You recover faster. You SUCCEED faster.
I'm not talking about seeking or even welcoming defeat or failure. What I am talking about is not avoiding something just because it has a chance to lead to failure, and throwing yourself into everything from your workouts to your passions without worrying about the small failures that will inevitably come along the way.
Fail faster so you can become stronger faster. So you can become your best self that much faster.
