Life Clean Up Step 1: Getting Started

A lot of people want to clean up their lives. They’re tired, out of shape, overweight, lost, unhappy…The list goes on. So starting today, I’m beginning a new series on cleaning up your life. Everything I talk about here will be methods and tools I have successfully used myself. I will never suggest something to you that I have not personally had good results with. Let’s get started.

Deciding to Start

Deciding to start is the first and most important step. Yes, I’m serious. I’m not talking about planning, I’m not talking about saying tomorrow, or next month, or after the holidays. I’m talking about deciding to start right now, today. I’m talking about putting down that soda and getting a glass of water right now, before you even read the next sentence.

This is, of course, not a knock against planning. It is especially not a knock against planning when it comes to cleaning up your life. It is, however, a knock against spending so much time planning that you don’t start DOING. I’m going to lay out a fairly detailed plan throughout this series anyway, so all you need to do is show up and commit to starting.

Yes You Can

I wish I didn’t need to include this. That everyone was able to just see the need to stop their destructive behaviors, better themselves, and have a better life. Unfortunately, not everyone can just do that on their own. That isn’t a criticism of you if you are one of these people. On the contrary, this section is for you, because I know you’re out here.

Listen to me. You can, and if you want it badly enough, WILL do this. You don’t have to be a slave to your addictions, mental or physical, for another day or even another moment. You can decide, right here, right now, that today is the day. If you can’t do it alone, then I want you to reach out to me personally, and we will find a way to get you started together. This entire site, this entire community, exists for that purpose. The only one who can stop you is you.

Decide TODAY that you’re going to start. Commit to joining me and everyone else on this journey out of tedium, mediocrity, poor health, and misery. Take the rest of this week to prepare, because next week I’m coming for your bad habits with the pruning sheers.
