One Hour

Many goals cannot be accomplished all at once. So I’m going to ask you for just one hour a day. Let’s talk about time management again.

Find One Hour A Day

You have something you want to accomplish with your life. We all do. Like most of us, this goal can’t be done in a single session, or even a single day. It’s a long term goal, and that’s where things get challenging.

Some people work too much and don’t rest. They work a full time job, have a family, and forego sleep, food, exercise, and even basic hygiene in pursuit of their goals. This is an admirable level of passion and dedication, and can on occasion be appropriate to reach your goal. It not, however, sustainable in the long term. If you sacrifice your health, family, and rest of your life in pursuit of your dream, you will be spending your time in the hospital instead of enjoying the results. If you fall into this category, one hour may not be enough for you. In that case I would reverse this concept and make sure that you are taking at least one hour a day to rest and take care of yourself.

On the flip side, there are those who either don’t or won’t make time. Life gets in the way. You have spouse, children, day job, other family, friends, hobbies, so on and so forth. Where do you make time for your goals and dreams?

This can be a tricky and touchy question. You don’t want to slight anyone, you still have to perform at work, and you of course still have to take care of yourself. The reality is that sometimes there is no perfect answer. Sometimes you will simply have to prioritize and MAKE the time to give one hour a day to accomplishes what matters to you. If your life is so completely full that you feel you are utterly incapable of making time for anything else, then you should already have everything you want in life. If you don’t, then you are having problems with prioritizing and you and I need to have a more individual discussion about that.

Making The Time

This concept is one of many things that is simple, but not easy. There are 24 hours in a day, and you are ideally spending 7-8 of them sleeping unless you are one of those enviable mutants that only needs 5 or less hours of sleep to be fully rested. Assuming you you work 8 hours a day, commute for 1 hour, and exercise for 1 hour, that leaves you 6-7 hours a day for yourself.

You can choose to devote one of those hours to your vision, your dream, your goal. As with everything else in your life, it is your decision. Strength is a choice.

How Do You Make Time?

As always, I want to hear from all of you. Do you take one hour a day for your goals? If so, how do you do it? If not, why not?
